Poindexter Coffee
About This Spot
Stepping into Poindexter Coffee, nestled within Nashville’s Graduate Hotel, feels like entering a bright, thoughtfully curated nook where artful simplicity meets warm intent. Sunlight streams through expansive windows, catching on sleek surfaces and soft seating that invite both quiet moments of reflection and easy conversations. The pace here is unhurried but attentive—perfect for lingering over a book or catching up with a friend amid the subtle hum of city life just outside.
This café embraces a modern yet approachable spirit, where each cup tells a story crafted with care. Whether it’s an oat milk latte or a meticulously pulled espresso shot, the drinks invite a moment of pause and enjoyment. On certain days, the smell of freshly baked pastries, like flaky croissants or seasonal galettes bursting with local fruits, gently mingles with the aroma of roasted beans, offering a reminder of the simple joys in life.
The menu reflects a thoughtful nod to southern roots while keeping a worldly perspective—imagine buttery buttermilk biscuits partnered with a creamy egg and cheese combination or a fresh avocado toast layered with just the right hint of seasoning. For those who like a little savory comfort, the biscuit sandwich or even a bowl of warm tomato soup feels like a soft embrace, perfect for cooler mornings or a midday pick-me-up.
There’s a certain charm in the way the café balances its refined aesthetic with approachable hospitality. It’s a space where locals and travelers alike find a moment to slow down, appreciating the human touches found in the craft behind each order and the genuine smiles from baristas moving with practiced ease, even on busy days. Though this spot carries the atmosphere and polish of a hotel lobby café, it remains welcoming—an intersection of style and comfort where stories steadily unfold over cups of coffee and shared bites.

My husband and I love this coffee shop. It's so cool. The coffee barista's are so fast , kind and very good at their job! Our coffee was perfect. My husband had a blueberry muffin and I had a carrot cake muffin with cream cheese frosting on top. It was fantastic!

First time to Nashville and we tried the Poindexter Coffee, located inside The Graduate hotel. Instagram worthy decor, lots of seating, very chic :). The food could use some work as it was just ok, nothing special at all, given the prices. My vanilla hot latte was good though. Worth a visit if but only for some coffee and cute pics.

Instagrammable coffee shop and a nice place to chat over coffee or read a book. My one complaint is that it got VERY hot in the seating area (probably because of the large windows). It’s also pretty expensive, but what you’d expect from a hotel lobby place.

Located in the Graduate Hotel. Hotel lobby prices. Automatic gratuity charged, even on overpriced grab and go items. Took 15+ minutes to get my pastry order (one "berry croissant") which was pretty... but not 15 minutes pretty. Also, as coffee part of order was super fast, those got cold while waiting for it. Coffee (latte) tasted great, but experience not aligned with price level.

This place is very pretty! During my first visit to Nashville this place was close to my hotel so I went here and wasn’t disappointed, I enjoyed my cortado and my biscuit and gravy!

Poindexter Coffee, a charming spot near my workplace, offers stunning surroundings and friendly staff. While the Lavish Latte was delightful, I was less impressed with the Queen cheese sandwich. The flavorless white bread could be upgraded to sourdough, and I suspect the smoked cheddar might have been absent. At $12, it's a pricey disappointment. For a more satisfying lunch, I recommend Jason's Deli located right around the corner.
